- Peer Allergy Support Group Facilitator (Remote)
Description
Allergy Life Australia is a national charity dedicated to supporting, advocating and empowering Australians living with allergies.
We run Online Peer Allergy Support Groups that are free to join and made for Australians living with allergies. We have been running these support groups since 2021.
We run monthly peer support groups online for families (with young children who have allergies) and adults with allergies in Australia. In our support groups, people share allergy experiences, learn about advocating for their allergies and find support from each other. More information here
As we expand our support group program, we are introducing dedicated peer support groups for:
- Culturally and linguistically diverse communities (Mandarin, Cantonese, Vietnamese, Arabic, Hindi, and Punjabi speakers)
- Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals
- Neurodivergent individuals
- Children aged 8–12 years living with allergies
Position Summary
We are seeking facilitators with lived experience, professional experience, cultural expertise, or community connections within one of the above groups to co-facilitate online peer support sessions.
As each group has specific communication needs, we are seeking facilitators who are comfortable communicating directly to the attendees to guide them through the session. Facilitators will be supported with an experienced co-facilitator, who will guide them through the session.
The support group sessions run online for 60 minutes (90 minutes for facilitators), and there is no medical or treatment advice provided.
